ChatGPT Ads for UK Businesses, Live Now
The UK is the first market outside the US where ChatGPT Ads run. We launch and manage your campaigns under UK GDPR while the early window is still open.
On 6 June 2026, OpenAI switched ChatGPT Ads on in the UK. It is the first European market to go live and one of only five live markets worldwide (the US, UK, Australia, New Zealand and Canada). There is a catch: at launch there is no UK self-serve account you can open yourself. Access runs through managed and partner channels, so most UK businesses cannot just sign up and start spending. That gap is the opportunity. Brands that get in now, while the auction is thin, set their cost of entry before everyone else arrives.
Why UK Businesses Should Move on ChatGPT Ads Now
ChatGPT Ads are a single labelled "Sponsored" card that appears below a relevant answer, set off in its own tinted box, with your name, favicon, headline, copy, image and landing URL. Ads only show to people on the Free and Go plans (paid Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise and Edu tiers stay ad-free), and never to users who are predicted or self-reported to be under 18 (source: OpenAI Help Center, "Ads in ChatGPT: the basics"). So when someone asks ChatGPT to compare options or recommend a supplier, your brand can show up inside that answer rather than fighting for a spot on a crowded results page.
The reason to act in mid-2026 is the access bottleneck itself. The UK went live on 6 June 2026 with no self-serve sign-up, so the pool of advertisers is small by design (source: PPC.land, "ChatGPT ads go live in the UK"). The auction is a relevance-weighted second-price auction, which means how well your ad fits the conversation counts for more than how high you bid (source: OpenAI Help Center). In a thin auction, relevant advertisers win cheaper placements. Once self-serve opens to everyone, that headroom closes. As-of 13 June 2026, OpenAI has not announced a UK self-serve date; "later in 2026" is an industry projection, not an OpenAI commitment, and we will tell you plainly when that changes.
We are an EU-based agency (Tallinn, Estonia) and we run ChatGPT Ads for clients in the markets where the platform is actually live. For the UK that means UK GDPR rather than EU GDPR after Brexit, a consent-first approach to the measurement pixel, and conversion tracking built to survive ad blockers. You get into a live channel through a managed route, with the tracking done properly from day one, instead of waiting on a self-serve account that does not exist yet.

Challenges We Solve
No UK Self-Serve at Launch
At go-live on 6 June 2026 there was no self-serve account a UK business could open alone. Access ran through managed and partner channels (source: PPC.land). We handle that route so you can be live now instead of waiting.
The Native Dashboard Only Shows Clicks
OpenAI's built-in report covers impressions, clicks, spend and CTR. It does not attribute conversions or ROAS on its own (practitioner-reported by Focal). Without the pixel and Conversions API you cannot see which ads drive leads or sales, so measurement comes first.
UK GDPR and Consent
Post-Brexit the UK runs UK GDPR, and OpenAI's ad rollout is consent-first: personalised ads need explicit opt-in (source: Digiday). We set up the measurement pixel and server-side tracking to respect consent rather than work around it.
Targeting Without Keywords
ChatGPT Ads do not use exact-match keywords. You give each ad group plain-language descriptions of the buyer (context hints), which the system matches by meaning, and delivery is not guaranteed (source: OpenAI Help Center). We write and test those hints so your ads land in the right conversations.
Frequently Asked Questions
-
Yes. OpenAI turned ChatGPT Ads on in the UK on 6 June 2026, making it the first European market and one of five live markets (the US, UK, Australia, New Zealand and Canada). The EU, including Germany, is not yet live (sources: PPC.land; OpenAI Help Center, as-of 11-13 June 2026).
-
Not at launch. The UK went live with no self-serve sign-up, so access runs through managed and partner channels (source: PPC.land). As-of 13 June 2026 OpenAI has not announced a UK self-serve date; "later in 2026" is an industry projection, not an OpenAI commitment. As a managed partner, we set the account up and run it for you in the meantime.
-
Only users on the Free and Go plans. Paid Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise and Edu tiers are ad-free, and no ads are shown to users predicted or self-reported to be under 18 (source: OpenAI Help Center, "Ads in ChatGPT: the basics").
-
There are two buying models live: CPM (Reach) and CPC (Clicks), with CPC added in May 2026. OpenAI lists a default CPM maximum bid of $60 and a recommended starting CPC maximum bid of $3 to $5 (source: OpenAI Help Center). CPA conversion bidding was activated on 5 June 2026 but needs historical conversion signal first, which is why tracking has to be in place before you can use it (source: PPC.land). Any wider market CPM or CPC ranges you read elsewhere are practitioner anecdotes, not an OpenAI rate card.

The native dashboard only reports impressions, clicks, spend and CTR. To see leads, sales and ROAS you need the measurement pixel, which captures a click identifier called oppref (ChatGPT's version of a click ID, the same idea as the gclid Google adds to a link), plus the Conversions API for server-side events. We build this through our tracking and measurement service. Note that conversions can lag in the dashboard by roughly seven hours (practitioner-reported by Focal).
-
The UK runs under UK GDPR after Brexit, and OpenAI's ad framework is consent-first, with explicit opt-in as the legal basis for personalised ads (source: Digiday). As an EU-based agency we apply the same consent-first, server-side tracking discipline we use for Google and Meta, so measurement is accurate without bypassing consent.
